Job Description: Director of Radiology - MA - Plans, directs, and supervises all technical aspects of the departments in regard to services, programs, and evaluations of such programs. Recommends action to the Vice President Administration and the Chairmen of Radiology in regard to equipment modifications, new equipment, and essential construction supporting the department. Assists in the planning for all new facilities and recommends facilities, equipment, personnel needs and leads implementation of new programs and equipment. Is directly responsible for the maintenance of existing equipment and such contractual services as may be required. Coordinates departmental purchasing and is responsible for stock level, storage, and utilization.
Maintains radiology services in accordance with standards established by the department chairmen and such state, local, and federal standards which may apply. Serves as Assistant Radiation Safety Officer in the hospital and assures compliance with all regulations governing the use of ionizing radiation.
Administers the department. Participates in recruitment, selection, supervision, and when necessary discipline or discharge of all staff. Is responsible for staff competency, work assignments, call arrangements, and such changes as may be required. Participates in the employee performance review process. Maintains department quality assurance programs.
Ideal candidate is Masters prepared with prior teaching hospital experience.
